The Cavriglia region, comprised between the eastern slopes of the Chianti and Valdarno hills, consist on a system of streams that run from southwest to northeast and come down towards the Arno river trough hills covered in vineyards and olive trees. Craviglia, Neri and Castelnuovo dei Sabbioni towns are located in between the valley ridges, where the rocky cliffs softens and the terrain is big enough and flat enough for the crop fields. An industrial exploitation of lignite coal started in the 50's. Now that the mine has officially closed there is a large area to be repurposed, rehabilitated, reforested.

The project, intended as an act of determination, considers the concave space of the Castelnuovo lake and the convex space of the terraced hills as the two main figures of the landscape's rewriting intervention. The relationship between the two figures is established through a long panoramic "s" shaped road that links them together. From the point of view of spatial organization we are in the presence of a topological inversion that establishes an homology relationship between different areas in relation to a tilting plane: Such plane can be considered the rocky cliff between them.
