From the flat Baltic landscape emerges the imposing castle of Herman which, together with the fortified town of Narve, looks at the Ivangord fortress on the other side of the river. The sharp image of the proximity of the two forts carved in stone and brick is the symbol of the confrontation and exchange of various peoples and cultures. The city of Narva is still a nerve center located on the threshold between Europe and Russia where Peter the Great, wounding with the ax, opens a window to the West. A. Pushkin.

This project argues that recognizing and caring for the forms of the city and the landscape is of vital importance for forming one's identity and is the basis for constructive dialogue. Raising the square to identify outward figures and forms, aimed at widening the inner cosmos is fundamental above all in education. In the German term 'Bildung' (education) the importance of the image in school education resonates. (Bild - image). The term - elevation - traces the guideline for the new Narva school complex.

The urban role: The project plans to raise the ground of the lot to a height of 5.00 meters from the street level in order to create a garden terrace that faces the historical and contemporary context. Two large areas that form the two school courts at an altitude of 0.00 are cut out from the elevation. .....
